“Rubble to Riches” Art Competition

WHAT IS THE PROJECT?

Enjoy spirited and environmentally conscious competition that incorporates artistic creativity with neighborhood clean-up efforts. Participants will use the refuse found to create original artwork of any kind. All mediums are welcome! The object of the game is to collect the most trash and produce as much art as possible with the largest number of participants working together.

WHY?

For the joy of creating beautiful art out of magnificently meaningful efforts.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

This event is open to any individual, group, organization, team, and/or church that wishes to take part in a creative neighborhood clean up.

WHAT IS THE TIME FRAME?

The competition will kick-off in September 2008 and end in December 2008.

HOW?

1. Choose a Project Organizer*
2. Collect trash!**
3. Purchase production supplies
4. Imagine, design, craft, create!

AND THE WINNER IS…

First, second, and third place winners will be chosen by art judges and awarded prizes.

WHAT ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE?

ALL participants will have an opportunity to display their art projects in a show (location TBA).

*Project Organizer is responsible for:
1.Scheduling team trash collection opportunities
2.Locating space to store the trash and work on the project
3.Providing their team with production supplies (scissors, glue, tools, etc.)
**Trash collected should not be wet or prone to decomposition or mildew. Aim for dry, clean trash.
